This is an original etching of the palace of Versailles from the 19th century, c. 1840. It is titled "La Salle aux Marroniers" and features members of the court of Versailles wandering down an avenue that is lined on both sides with a canopy of trees. This etching was made off of the original plate from the early 1700s by the Louvre Museum. This printing dates to about 1840 and is signed by J.Rigaud, the artist. It has an embossed stamp at the bottom from the Louvre indicating the authenticity of the print. It is in good condition...no tears or stains. The overall paper measures 18" x 25" and the image area is 10" x 19". Print comes unframed and unmatted.
